MUSIC LIFE:
Real name, Shaun James, born in the small city of Gloucester, United Kingdom 1990. Deeply inhabited by electronic music, Mills adopts his concepts, stories and aesthetics from the outset. His obsession for sound and electronic music is creating a positive state of mind, searching for a magical place out of this world almost away from reality, which doesn't exist until the individual gets there. Each individual has different destinations of where music takes them. Techno takes you on a journey to nowhere. But sometimes that nowhere is somewhere. Depending on how far the mind travels, we reach new points in the universe which we never knew existed.
Mills solely founded his record label Innersound Digital in 2020, using the name as a reminder to always create your art from your true inner self and what makes you happy. At the beginning of the labels birth, Mills was releasing records of mixed genre's under his alias Synthinnate and Shaun James. Today the label is only releasing records from Eski Mills and predominantly focusing on classic vintage 90s Techno. For mills... this is where the true Innersound comes from.

DJ'ing and music creation has been a big part his life since 1997. Mills was first introduced to electronic music from the young age of 7 years old. He had a great ear for sounds which was influenced from his older brother. As a child growing up listening to UK Happy Hardcore, Hard House, Techno and House music, his passion for music grew instantaneously. The very first album he was introduced to was Bonkers 3: A Journey Into Madness. Being influenced by his favourite artists such as music producers Jonathan Kneath (DJ Sharkey), Ian Hicks (DJ Hixxy) & Scott Brown.
In 1998, Mills first learnt the art of music production and DJ'ing with vinyl and turntables from his brother. His brother showed him everything he needed to know about DJ'ing. They both would stay up every Friday and Saturday night listening to the Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 with Pete Tong, Judge Jules, and Fergie.
The 2 hour long radio shows back then was the main source of finding the record names. Also the collection of many Mixmag and DJ magazines. Mills and his brother would write them down and during the week his brother would go out and purchase them. Mills would often sit and watch his brother mix for hours and then eventually he would let Mills have a go himself. He would teach Mills for hours on end, being very patient showing him exactly what to do and how all the equipment works, and also everything he needed to know which has made Mills who he is today. It was from this not only did he learn the fundamentals of DJ'ing but also learnt about song structure, how songs were layered and produced, sound frequencies. EQ, and other valuable skills.
In 2003, aged just 13 Mills was writing and recording songs for his friends, mainly hip hop songs that he would share amongst friends on mp3 players. Also making Techno Mix CD's with tracks from the likes of Joey Beltram & Oxia, as well as Drum & Bass mixes with tracks from his favourite producers such as DJ Markey & XRS.
In 2011, Mills started to produce his own records, ranging from Hip Hop and electronic dance music. Making Hip Hop instrumentals for rappers around the world and in the local area amongst friends.
In 2012, Mills released a collection of Hip Hop instrumentals amongst friends whilst he was also exploring different genres of music to produce such as Techno, House, UK Happy Hardcore, Deep House, Tech House and Drum & Bass.
In 2018, Mills started releasing music to the general public, where people could stream his music on Spotify and iTunes, and also purchase from the worlds biggest electronic music store, Beatport. Over the years Mills had regular support and radio play from major stations such BBC radio, and other small internet radio stations such as Beach Radio.
Mills had built up over 7000 followers and supporters from all over the globe online with his Techno DJ sets and records being released. Having regular interaction with his fans with his DJ set Livestreams whilst also being featured on the biggest online music store for electronic music, Beatport's Best New Tech House Feburary 2020.
In 2020, the time had come for his first ever DJ booking. To play internationally in Spain and then Greece. Unfortunately due to the worldwide pandemic at that time all bookings and events were cancelled. Mills sadly lost all social media accounts that year containing all his followers from around the world due to mistaken identify.
As time has passed over the years with life challenges his continuous exploration for deep philosophy, spirituality, sound, art, nature, space, and other unexplainable emotional phenomenon's, his passion for music and creativity has never faded.
As Mills was going through life's trials and tribulations he was growing and also changing as a person so he wanted to come up with new concepts, new artist names and alias's with new identities as an Artist, thus creating new aliases Synthinnate and Eski Mills, changing from his real name Shaun James.
In 2022, under his alias name Synthinnate, Mills started to release music until early 2024 along with hardware production videos of me making my records on machines and synthesizers. Mills had taken a strong interest in LIVE hardware DAWless production setups and producing music entirely from analog, digital and modular synthesizers and drum machines. The sounds that he write/compose and produce to then sculpt and shape right from the machines and send into his recording software. Mills found it interesting how machines work, how to connect other machines via daisy chain, Midi, or using patch cables. Learning machines and configuring settings in order to sync, but also having fun being creative and making sounds and making music.
In 2024, a new era began, a new beginning with his newest alias Eski Mills. The name came from being heavily inspired by his childhood musical idols Richard Cowie (Wiley), from London, and Jeff Mills, from Detroit.
His artist alias name Eski Mills is named after his 2 favourite producers of all time, they both had a huge impact on his life with music, so he id very honoured to be able to name himself after his 2 hero's.
Eski Mills is the main alias and artist for the foreseeable from Innersound Digital.
In March 2024, Mills released his 1st album ''Every Cat Lands On Its Feet Vol.1'' and released his 1st vinyl E.P ''2nd Sign'' in April 2024. Mills is primarily focusing on underground 90s and 2000s Techno & House music. Releasing a large a catalogue of records not only for his own personal pleasure, use and collection, but also for all the DJ's and music lovers around the world.
Mills loves all styles of music such as Jazz, Country, Rock, Blues, Ambient Chill Out, and World. To more electronic genres and sub genres such as Techno, Dub Techno, House and Deep House which all add to his creative work.
